Kimberly Cargill Trial Day 8

Brett Harrison told the jury that they've heard evidence and testimony that Kim  Cargill called Cherry Walker called Cherry multiple times on that Friday, June 18th.

"I'll tell you most of the evidence you've heard I agree with," said Harrison. "Kim Cargill was with Cherry Walker when she died. She attempted to perform CPR on Cherry Walker."

Harrison said Cargill panicked and dropped Cherry's body off and set her body on fire.

Defense calls Kim Cargill to the witness stand.

Viewer submitted recipe: Seafood Stroganoff

Viewer submitted recipe: Seafood Stroganoff

From our KLTV cookbook called "Proud of East Texas," (what else?) comes a recipe for a quick seafood dinner.

The recipe was submitted in the 1998 by Diana Conine of Tyler. It sounds pretty simple, delicious, and quick:

Seafood Stroganoff:

1 pound shrimp, crawfish tails, or scallops (or a combination)
1 bunch of green onions, sliced (tops included)
1 stick of butter (ed. note: or a healthy Omega-3 butter blend, like Smart Balance)
4 TBS flour
2 TBS garlic powder (or to taste)
1/2 pound fresh mushrooms, sliced (ed. note: you can buy these pre-sliced to save time)
1 tsp worcestershire sauce
2 tsp creole seasoning (any brand you like)
1/2 cup vermouth (optional, but definitely adds better flavor) (ed. note: white wine could be substituted if no vermouth on hand)
1 16 oz. carton of sour cream. (ed. note: light sour cream will cut fat and calories and still be creamy and delicious!)

Peel and devein shrimp, if necessary.

Tips for handling debt collectors

Tips for handling debt collectors

Released by the Better Business Bureau of Central East Texas:

Consumers who owe money or are behind on their bills may be legitimately contacted by debt collectors to pay off debts.  In a recent release of the top complaints reported to BBB, collection agencies ranked 5th in number of complaints received.  With more than 15,000 complaints, consumers need to be aware of the best practices for when it comes to handling debt collectors.

“Be wary of the red flags for fraudulent debt collectors”, said Mechele Agbayani Mills, President and CEO of BBB Serving Central East Texas. “Refusing to reveal the name of their agency or demands that the payments be made in cash or money transfer only, could mean that a phony debt collector is making an attempt at identity theft”.

It’s important for consumers to verify the alleged debt before taking action.

Entrance re-opened 7 years after Smith County courthouse shooting

SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV)-

A part of the Smith County courthouse has opened for the first time since a deadly shooting over seven years ago.

The east entrance re-opened Monday morning as a way to ease lines on the Broadway side of the courthouse.

The Spring Avenue entrance has been closed ever since David Arroyo opened fire on his ex-wife and son before a child support hearing.

His ex-wife was killed along with a civilian who tried to break up the shootout.

Arroyo was later killed after police shot him after a chase on Highway 271.
